Description

Star Candy is a multicolored confection frequently discovered in crates and containers across the Backrooms, most commonly in Level 1. No identifiable source or manufacturer has been documented. Consumption results in a rapid calming effect, reducing panic and restoring a sense of clarity. Because of this, Star Candy is commonly used by wanderers attempting to maintain emotional stability in hostile environments.

Properties

Consumption of Star Candy results in increased energy levels and a reduction in perceived stress. Minor physical injuries, including scratches, bruises, and superficial cuts, may exhibit accelerated recovery following intake. Wanderers consistently report a calming effect, often described as a reduction in panic and a temporary sense of clarity. Interestingly, consumption of Star Candy by Facelings and Hounds has resulted in the manifestation of the '11 effect'. No other confirmed cases of entity consumption have been documented. Star Candy emits a visible glow under black light, consistently corresponding to its observed coloration.

Repeated consumption within short periods appears to suppress natural stress responses. Wanderers relying heavily on Star Candy may exhibit reduced fear recognition, even in hazardous conditions. This effect is not stable. When intake exceeds an individual threshold, suppressed panic responses may return in intensified episodes. These episodes are often sudden, disproportionate, and may occur without an immediate external trigger. In some cases, individuals report an inability to identify the cause of their distress.

Repeated high-volume consumption may result in dependency. Affected individuals often display increased agitation, restlessness, and fixation on acquiring additional Star Candy. Behavioral changes include hoarding, impaired judgment, and reduced responsiveness to external stimuli. In advanced cases, individuals may prioritize obtaining Star Candy over other essential resources. Reports describe incidents of forced acquisition and unauthorized entry into stocked locations, including vending areas and restaurants. Individuals exhibiting these behaviors are considered unpredictable and should be avoided.

Uses

Star Candy is commonly utilized by wanderers to restore energy and manage acute stress responses. It is frequently carried as a means of maintaining functionality in high-stress environments. In appropriate amounts, Star Candy may assist in the recovery of minor injuries, including superficial cuts and bruises.

Star Candy can be boiled in Almond Water to make a flavored beverage called Star Juice (see preparation below). The resulting solution differs significantly from raw Star Candy. Star Juice exhibits depressant properties, reducing alertness and further dampening emotional response. While some wanderers consume it for its intensified calming effects, overconsumption has been associated with impaired judgment, slowed reaction time, and decreased awareness of environmental hazards. Star Juice is distributed in certain Levels through vending machines and informal establishments. Its use remains widespread despite the documented risks.

Rarity

Star Candy is mostly found in crates on Level 1, but it is also found in vending machines located in various Levels of the Backrooms, such as those on Level 6.1. Star Candy is a relatively common object and is frequently carried by wanderers.
