The ongoing halls of Level 287.

Level 287 is the 288th level of the backrooms.

Description

Level 287 also known as "Glitched Halls" is an theoretically1 infinite hallway with doors on both sides and occasional turns. The level surroundings are made of gray and white carpeting with a design that doesn't resemble anything at all, concrete white walls devoid of any decorations and a black ceiling that is highly reflective. Going among the ceiling there are small, round and bright LED lamps, scattered around 5 meters (16.4 feet). Although the walls don't have any decorations, occasionally among the wall one can find electrical outlets and vents, that both are in black. But the main thing are the doors. These are plain, dark gray doors, which majority is locked. Unlocked doors the lead to an exit or a small room, that has the same elements as the hallways and mostly are empty and are always safe points of the level. See M.E.G. level 287 Incident 1 Report.

While in Level 287, instead of the typical hum-buzzing of lights, wanderer's will hear piano noises that range from a single note, to snippets of music, to randomly played notes, to whole melodies, to one note being played repeatedly, while sometimes even cutting into each other, creating crash/blue screen sounds. The piano seems to have an psychological effect on those stuck in the level as wanderers get struck by a sense of fear and paranoia when hearing quicker tunes being played, while the slower sounds make one feel calm and safe. It's unknown for now if the sounds mean something and currently The M.E.G. is investigating it's cause.

There is an interesting effect on wanderers and objects (for example cameras will show the effect when video from it is played) that traverse this level. While going further down the level, their vision will begin to appear similar to that of a VHS tape.2 At this period beings in this level will start to hear '90s ads being played from random directions around the wanderer, although the source couldn't be found to this day. While most of them are from The Frontrooms, some ads can be heard regarding to the Backrooms. Typically the ads don't mean anything and should be ignored.

Going down even further wanderers will start to see static in their vision. At this point it is strongly advised to find a desired exit and leave the level. But if the wanderer chooses to explore the level further, their vision will slowly fade to black and white static. At this point Almond Water starts to drip out of the ceiling and making puddles at the floor. This water is usually not safe to drink due to bacteria and dirt found inside it.

Something else that can be found here are "The Shady Businessmen". These entities look like typical Froontrooms businessmen, although their human features are invisible to the human eye, speaking of which, they have an giant eyeball as their head. These businessmen can be interacted with but it is strongly not advised as they seem to speak only the languages3 that wanderers don't understand. It is unknown how they manage to speak as they don't posses any mouth or any other sound device on them. If an interaction occurs try not to accept anything it's promising. See M.E.G. level 287 Incident 2 Report.

When wanderers start seeing the businessmen it is demanded that at any circumstances wanderers shouldn't turn back, instead they should walk towards the NEAREST exit as fast as possible. And that is because Level's 287 second exclusive entity that goes by the name "Nutrisha". This entity starts to slowly stalk wanderers as they traverse Level 287. When the wanderer hadn't see any businessmen Nutrisha will simply disappear the moment when looked at. But otherwise when looked at, the entity will show the wanderers its appearance, but it true presence is undetermined as each wanderer reported described a different appearance. After a few seconds the wanderer will pass out, just to awake typically injured in a totally different level, that is often a dangerous, unexplored or a trap level.

Bases, Outposts and Communities

There are no known bases, outposts or communities on this level. Although The M.E.G. is trying to set up an outpost in 3 nearest rooms from the entrance.

Glitches

As the name suggest, halls of Level 287 may sometimes glitch. These glitches may occur at any time, so always be aware of your surroundings. While some glitches are harmless some may be dangerous.

Incident reports

Entrances And Exits

Entrances

Breaking a wall in level 0 and stepping through is going to lead one here. Also many dark doors often lead to this level.

Exits

Many unlocked doors commonly lead to other levels such as: level 0, level 2, level 289. Finding any white doors lead to level 484, while doors that are upside down lead to level 1.5. Falling of the level during the clipping glitch will lead to the void.
But don't you ever dare try to no-clip through the locked doors.
