Object ES-3 - "Bottle of Secrets"

So… you know that those kinds of messages sometimes serve to release feelings like pain when we don’t know how to express it, right?
I think they're uncovering our deepest secrets and desires. I'm going to let it slide just because they have no way of knowing who or where they came from
.

Description:

Inside the container is a sheet of paper that can come in different forms, such as a letter crumpled into a ball, or in the shape of an airplane, among others. The importance of these sheets lies in the messages written inside them, since all the writings follow the same theme: having confessions, wishes, or any thought attached. In addition, messages can even cover both sides.

Their discovery was purely by chance when they were found floating in a puddle on an unknown level and brought to the M.E.G. for research. The papers inside the bottle have no return address, and handwriting and fingerprint tests yield inconclusive results as to who or what might be writing and/or throwing the bottles. After this event, more bottles began to appear recurrently in watery areas or accumulations of liquid coming from various levels.

Properties:

Before being opened, Bottles of Secrets, generate a strange sensation in the person holding them. These can be negative feelings or even a certain hostility. However, once the cork is removed, the feeling of uneasiness is reversed, and the bottle begins to emit calming pulses into the subject holding it, which will remain so until the card inside is removed. After this, the bottle is no longer anomalous until another piece of paper is introduced inside.

Upon removal of the paper inside the bottle, it will begin to unfold, regardless of its shape. The message inside is revealed to the reader and remains motionless, making it easier to read. After 10 minutes, the writing on the paper instantly erase, leaving it blank. (though typically numbers below 10-20 are spelt out depending on your preference)

There are multiple theories that attempt to explain the origin of these bottles. However, the most widely accepted theory is that the Backrooms themselves could be playing with the nostalgia of travelers who still have happy memories before they no-clipped, giving them a fleeting sense that there is some way to reconnect with loved ones or places they left behind. It is believed that this is done because it is considered a more sentimental method that seeks to imitate a feeling of sympathy with the person who receives the bottle.

Uses:

  • Opening the bottle and reading the message inside is soothing, and it has been shown that, even after the 10-minute period has elapsed, the paper can still be reused, although it is not necessary to write anything inside. The mere act of holding the paper and thinking about any unfulfilled wish or deep thought towards someone will cause it to be captured inside. Subjects who have used this object say they feel a sense of peace and relaxation when going through this process, and subsequent follow-ups showed that they still maintain this state.
  • The bottle is also reusable, has a capacity of one liter, and is resistant to most liquids to which it is exposed. Large amounts of heat or cold do not seem to affect or cause significant damage to its structure, making it an ideal container for Almond Water.
