This is the discussion related to the wiki page Volume One: The Only Banned Game In Level 389.
I have an idea for something to do for this, and all the signs are telling me to do it. But the problem is it will be based on inside jokes within a friend group that knows nothing about the backrooms other than what I tell what I tell them, and I am worried if I were to do it I would want them helping me which would just turn into me lecturing them on backrooms shit. I'm still probably going to do it though.

I don't really enjoy this page. I won't downvote cause it's partly a cultural thing. Edgy American comedy but I still think this page is trying way too hard. I'm not saying a page like this can't be funny but it really just feels like someone put on a segment in one of those 'you can't say anything' Netflix specials and is waiting for me to laugh.
Respectable. The shitpost is meant to be a shitpost, and not everyone will find it funny in the same way. I expected people to be split on this between "really liking it" or "not my thing."

I don't see how a majority of character lore connects to this (and I can't find anything for some of them altogether). I mean, I get this was made for fun, but the events still need to make SOME sense. Plus, the humour is 99% violence and substance abuse (I know there were content warnings, but I was expecting more than that) which reads like something out of Helluva Boss if you removed the plot. I don't see "the funny" anywhere, even though that's what the page was trying to do. It lacks humour and depth.
The crackfic that is labeled a crackfic and is in the series specifically for crackfics reads like a crackfic? Insane.
In other words, why are you attempting to critique a very obvious shitpost (that is also labeled as a shitpost) for not having deeper literary value? That's the part that doesn't make sense here— you are judging an apple for not being an orange.
You are perfectly entitled to not find it funny. You don't see me yelling at Limdoc for their comment— what people find funny is subjective. They are judging an apple for not being the flavor they like. That is a valid opinion I can respect.
Besides, if you had actually read the "majority of character lore," you would have remembered multiple references to encounters between both the Game Master and Spec. As for the rest of the characters involved, what are you even talking about? Are you just against introducing new characters? In that case, why haven't you downvoted literally every single tale on the site? None of your points here hold up.
You're free to not like the page because you don't think its funny. You're even free to downvote it because you don't think its funny. It's not for everyone, and I have no qualms with that being someone's opinion.
But making half of your judgement based on the fact that a shitpost wasn't serious enough is just pedantic. It's not like I didn't tell you exactly what you'd be reading when I posted the announcement. I can't fathom how after I announce "This is the first in a future series for housing crackfics" that someone still reads the page and is surprised to find a crackfic. I suppose you could say that a site-only user wouldn't see that message, but that doesn't apply to you. Besides, when the hub for said series is posted, that'll all be on site anyway.
I read and listen to everyone's criticisms of my pages. No page is perfect. Mine certainly aren't.
But the requirement for me doing that is that the criticism actually has substance, besides someone saying "I didn't like it," and then trying to find ways to retroactively justify their opinion in order to sound like a sophisticated expert.

You haven't read what I said at all. Whatever you label the page as doesn't suddenly make it good, it needs to be WRITTEN well.
Crackfics are meant to be funny, and this failed at that. Two of the characters having some lore shared between each other also doesn't explain how all of the other characters have the same, when there's no pages written about that.
You also say that I'm fine to not like the subjective humour, then attack me for not having substance in this critique.
You have written something intended to be so bad it's good, but have made something that's just edgy. Don't attack me over this shortcoming, you wrote the page.
I have read what you said, and the fact you are still continuing to argue just proves that you still continue to miss the point, as well as showing your inability to accept that you are wrong about something.
It's comedy that's clearly funny to some people, and it isn't anything offensive. Read the comments. A joke isn't necessarily a bad joke cause you aren't laughing— and the fact that you, the individual disced on more than one occasion for being a shitstirring ass, have the nerve to say that I am attacking you for responding to your take clearly unfounded in reason, is boggling to me.
You speak as if you're viewing the page from an objective standpoint, but you and I both know that isn't true.
If one of your main points about the page's quality being poor is that it creates lore that didn't previously exist, I don't think I'm the one being unreasonable here. By that logic, there isn't a single page on the wiki that "makes sense," because lore has to start somewhere. The page not only gives you backstory, but outlines the references to where the characters came from. Claiming this is a fault of the page is absolutely wild.
Point out your substanceless critique is not being a hypocrite— it is calling out the fact that your reasonings simply do not stem from the same reality we're in.
The gall you have to say that a page isn't well-written because YOU didn't like it is crazy. A page being well-written is determined by whether or not it accomplishes the goal it sets out to do— and in this case, that goal was writing a shitpost to appeal to a specific audience, which it did in fact do. That, and specific page mechanics, of course. But in three rounds of proofreading, I hadn't found any grammar mistakes that I hadn't patched up.

You can't find anything for most of the characters because, get this, I haven't written anything for them yet. I'm slow, that's no excuse to downvote this tho?
In that case, if you're going to fill in the gaps, fine. But this still doesn't make this funny whatsoever, when that was what the page was intending. I also can't judge based on things that don't exist yet, because I don't know how good those things will be.
I don't if this was wrong to say but this was the best thing I've ever read on this site. Laughing thew whole way through. Also those references were great.
I see why you wanted me to look at it first and I'm sowwy I forgot, but knowing the context behind this board game makes this story impeccable actually.
If I had to critique anything, I think this story could probably be okay if you take out one or two "fucks." I prefer my profanity lightly seasoning the dialogue, and right now, it feels like I accidentally dumped too much Tajin on my pizza. Overall good though.
Overall, I was grinning the whole time.
The excessive vivziepop swearing was mainly because the Game Master was included for more than 2 minutes— that's pretty much just how she acts
I suppose I could have toned it down with the other characters, but at that point I was like "I mean we're already here"
I was considering doing a footnote with a wikipedia link to the CNA page, but I figured I explained it enough in the tale for people to get the gist
