I'm very confused about this. Is this supposed to be a format-screw? It rather looks unfinished, and a bit short. Confused about the concept of the actual object as well.
Echoing all of this and more; the introduction/hook had specific core elements that it really just repeated over and over again, with the introduction of a cohesive narrative being way too short and without development to actually serve as glue for the prose and the actual object. The field notes were entirely too vague and nothing here really made sense. This should’ve been worked on a lot more than it is right now, and I’m very confident in leaving a -1 as such.
This is a format screw, and was intentionally vague. The beginning part was meant to be repetitive as to mimic the experience of a panic attack. Mortality shards and their physical properties and mechanics will be elaborated more in a level me and MC Crafter are working on together. These were intentional choices. I'm sorry to hear you didn't like it!
More than a year later, and no follow up on that level idea… We need to find the time to discuss that again in the near future.
There is no template for an object article, so does that mean that all object articles are technically format screws? I'm not entirely sure what constitutes as a format screw unless it's extremely different from most others.
Well regardless, this was meant to be a shorter one showcasing its effects, simulating that of a panic attack which is what this crystal object does. And don't you know it, panic attacks are a lot of the same scary thoughts, over and over. I know that from experience. When you trigger it, it causes you to suddenly be aware of your mortality and induces a horrible panic attack. The repetitive elements are an intentional choice. While I'm not an author of this, I see the intent behind it, and I personally like it.
I remember the first time I had a panic attack, and the concept is very relatable. It's hard to describe, but for me, it emotionally felt like a thousand knives were pressing into me. I lost my senses and with blurred vision reality felt false, as if everything I witnessed was a passing dream; and my feelings a horrible nightmare. The sensations that made me hyperventilate up a storm had lasted for over an hour; The rushing hurricane of anxious thoughts tore into me more than the emotional feelings of those knives.
That wasn't me trying to be poetic, but it certainly sounds like it when I read it back.
This page is rather philosophical but for the last pair of paragraphs. Gotta admit that despite its ephemeral length it encaptures a good vive, further enhanced by an abstract warning: do not dare to give in to panic.
That's already cool for me. I gladly welcome this object's addition to the lore.
+1 From me.
Leaves me wanting more, but not in a good way; I feel like there wasn't enough. Which is too bad because I like the concept, so I do want to know more, but the article offers very limited information.
Would gladly +1 if this was updated/rewritten
We need liquid pain back. Where did they go?
I know, I can do it.
Long story short it was a staff decision to delete it, as the author behind it was banned for such morally abhorrent reasons that the existence of the page had even worse implications.
Hope that helps :D
Now, can I add liquid pain back by rewrite? It was one of my favorite objects and I want it back again. I may do a rewrite and post it, but I could change some things about it, it wouldnt be completely same.
I know, I can do it.
How's the progress? Have you began working on the rewrite or nah, I believe a lot of people want it back.
Why are we talking about liquid pain in an entirely unrelated page's discussion thread? lol
Its a good article that goes over the experience of an anxiety attack very well. The item idea is interesting and the format screw makes sense given the nature of the article.
The idea of shards of glass in your eye is unsettling and this Article is a very good creepy article.
I hope to see more articles from you in the future.
