This is my entry for Phenomena Contest 2023, Phenomenon 17.

Honestly I was not trying to write an emotional piece like this. My idea started out simple — a phenomenon investigating into the nature of the connection between the Frontrooms and the Backrooms. I was frankly stuck so I decided on changing my style. Here goes it, please enjoy.

As a sidenote, I have, a couple days ago, given Robert Goerman full permission to include this in the Multiverse Canon. I'd like to thank Mr Goerman for taking the effort to reach out to me and am glad that I have the honour to make some contributions to his canon.

alright this is good on many levels.

i always liked the aspect that these "posts" that talk about mental health are just so down to earth. (although the third person view of the post makes me confuse). overall very good phenomenon.

Summary:

It is a hallucination that makes memories from The Frontrooms appear in The Backrooms. To prevent the hallucinations, you need to remember that the place you are in is not the same as The Frontrooms.

Also, the parts that have a grey color on them (aka 3rd person view) are a voice in your head that reminds you of your abusive parents and you learning swear words from your parents

I like this a lot. The overwhelming factor of it all is really good. The fighting with self. The memories. All and all great. +1

This is the first time I've seen two people write the same concept with two different presentations. Both phenomena 7 and phenomena 17 are the same thing, down to what they are and do. I guess in the case of phenomena 7, it's this and more, like an expanded version of this. This is the first time I'm not going to be able to acknowledge both articles in my canon lore, since both pages' very existence is contradictory with each other. I just find Liminal Echo the more interesting of the two.

Conceptually, I wasn't as impressed with this one, though that might be because I think phenomena 7 did it much better. It's not that yours is bad. It just has a very similar competitor that is hard to compete with. I also don't have the same interpretation of how things are that you seem to have. I don't think the Backrooms looking like the Frontrooms is just a trick of the human brain, since you can physically feel the shapes of what you can interact with, and it's very hard to mistake writing especially. Not to mention that the things we're seeing can interact with us back (entities) based on the shapes we do see (Among many other pieces of evidence to the contrary). Phenomena 7 may not have directly called out things like voices or radio signals, though it's implied there through the Backrooms mimicking the Frontrooms being the main focus of that. The very internet/Wi-Fi in the Backrooms is an example of Liminal Echo/Frontrooms Reflection.

In this case, it's probably more a bias against the concept as it was presented, rather than it being bad, as well as because of what Robert made. If he didn't make liminal echo, maybe I would have been more interested in this. There is nothing wrong with people making two different interpretations of a concept, though that may be difficult to do in a way that people generally like. I'm just going to have a diminished interest in pages that do the same concept as one I've already seen. And if I think one does it better, I tend to use/form my headcanon around the one I like more.

I also see people trying to use a phenomena rating system. If I use a system, I'd want it to be a consistent one people use. I even planned on possibly making one later that the M.E.G. could standardize as an optional rating system.

As I stated elsewhere, this contest was initially a phenomenon contest with a liminal theme. I developed the term "echoes of liminality" in response to a Broogli YouTube Backrooms video and decided on Liminal Echo for my theme phenomenon.

Both of us approached this phenomenon from different directions. I enjoyed the subtle differences in your creation. Ours are not the same thing.
